Our government is full of too many holes and gentlemen’s agreements

It has become obvious over the last decade just how incomplete and intentionally broken our federal system of government is. It is like an old car with bald tires, a broken headlight, is 20,000 miles overdue for an oil change, and we are stuck arguing about how much gas to put in the damn thing. Our founding fathers always intended us to continue to improve our government, that is why they gave us the ability to amend the constitution. Too many decades have passed since anything truly meaningful has been updated. It stands neglected, ripe for abuse, and is critically failing, existentially so.

Us at the ACP have many things that we want to work on in order to overhaul our government, make it more efficient, and add resiliency. Here is a short breakdown of our policies.

Top Priorities After Trump Administration Removal:

1. Legislate an end to the citizen’s united decisions and remove money from politics. Add a constitutional amendment if needed declaring that money is not free speech and corporations are not people.

2. Legislate a binding ethics code for the supreme court, that eliminates pay to play decisions and policy positions. We want to disallow gifts entirely, especially from those that have business before the court. There should also be required open financial transparency and severe penalties if found not in compliance, including jail time. We do not believe that supreme court justices should have their seat on the bench to play political favors. They are there to adjudicate the toughest and most complex legal questions our country faces. Anything short of that, is unacceptable.

3. Create legislation that closes the supposed current loophole in the 14th amendment in regards to disallowing insurrectionists from serving political office again. Make it have teeth and steep penalties for insurrectionists.

4. Remove the electoral college from the constitution. It was there as a safeguard, yet has clearly guarded nothing but minority power. If not readily removable from the constitution, then complete the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact.

5. Add the ability for states and localities to hold recall elections of their congresspeople given an adequate percentage of votes asking for the measure. The legislature is a proxy for the people, yet their power goes unchecked too often. They cannot be trusted to self regulate.

6. Generate and enact a standard for a no confidence vote of the presidency, where there are snap elections for a new executive.

7. Add a fourth branch of government that will serve as oversight for the other three branches. In this new branch will be positions from all three branches. We especially want to remove the Department of Justice and US Marshall service from the executive. It has become blatantly obvious that the executive can exert too much corrupting influence on them that they no longer function independently. A norm loophole that other presidents thought better of exploiting.

8. Have congress reclaim war powers that are still at large for the war on terror. This gigantic loophole needs to be closed permanently.

9. Also have congress reclaim the power to invoke tariffs.

10. Create legislation that permanently settles law that is otherwise only in place due to precedence. Namely, decisions like Roe v. Wade.

11. Close all “norms” loopholes, where the only thing really stopping a runaway government is having common decency and love of country.

12. Disallow active trading in public markets for any federal employee that may have an impact on the markets, or even a single company. When congress outperforms money managers, we have an insider trading problem.

13. Add 4 more justices to the supreme court, so that the count reaches 13. That way there will be one justice for every district.

14. Bar lobbyists from holding office and visa versa, including going to go work for major government contractors.

15. Make passing a financial audit a requirement for continued funding of every department of the government.

16. Accept any US territories that wish to do so, into statehood.

17. Review current legislation and cut the pork. Do so legally, not with a chainsaw and 20 year olds.

We’re sure as time goes on, things might come to light that need more attention than those listed here. Also, we have a whole section on campaign finance reform, so be sure to check it out. It is definitely a top priority for us as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

This is ambitious, how are you going to achieve this ?

Undoubtedly, this is extraordinarily ambitious, but as the saying goes, go big or go home. We are going to utilize the unprecedented anger of the public to unify them against the worst actors that are in the government. We are playing for keeps.

A new branch of government, are you crazy?

No, quite the opposite. The founding fathers created the 3 co-equal branches of government with the assumption that men thirst for their own power and therefore would be willing to check one another’s power. This assumption has almost completely failed and is currently leading to the crisis at hand.

What elections are you planning on entering?

For now, we will keep this particular set of plans to ourselves. However, where we do go, we will be unapologetic and stay true to our promises.
