The way the US treats its veterans is shameful<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Those that have answered the highest calling of our nation should not be treated as disposable. They should not have their sacrifices be forgotten. They deserve our highest respect. They also deserve the benefits promised to them when they come home. A well functioning Department of Veteran’s Affairs with hospitals that provide quality physical and mental healthcare, with little to no wait time, is the absolute MINIMUM we should be doing as a nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also believe that the US should not be so reckless as to start decades long hot wars with countries that did nothing to us. The war on terror in the Middle East was a SNAFU of epic proportions. Many young service members that patriotically fought for their country post 9\/11, found themselves unable to leave due to stop loss orders. When they did come home, they found struggles to get the VA to authorize care for clearly service related injuries. Similar stories are true of veterans of all our wars of living memory, especially Vietnam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Department of Veteran Affairs is not some waste fraud and abuse line item. These are are people’s lives that are being played around with by billionaires. Actions speak louder than words. If the current administration gave a damn about veterans, they’d stop DOGE’s decimation of needed and promised benefits for our country’s finest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are you going to do about it?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Fund, audit, and improve the VA. Get feedback from benefit recipients on what should immediately change within the department. Increase service levels, especially those that have been recently cut. Bolster programs to reintegrate service members into society post service. Vastly improve mental health services. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

How are you going to pay for this?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Taxes. Raise taxes on the highest earners in the US. The Iraq and Afghanistan wars were largely paid for by issuing debt or printing money. Few asked then how would we pay for these wars. We see veteran’s care as the final and longest step to finishing any war. This country owes its veterans what it promised and we intend to pay.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

All that is great for when I get out, but I’m active now and struggling, what about me?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We will increase the pay of active duty service members to a level that is commensurate with the level of physical danger and mental stress that is inherent to the armed services they provide. We will also remove marriage as a requirement to move out of the barracks. That’s just the start.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
